Using AI Assist

AI Assist is a chat with the AI agent for a deployed project. Instead of logging into a server, you tell the agent what you want in plain language and it does the work — installing packages, editing configuration, fixing errors, and more.

Every plan can use AI Assist, and it’s one of the ways to change a running app — you make changes right from the dashboard, with no shell to set up. On Pro you can additionally open direct SSH access and work in a shell yourself — but AI Assist is available there too.

On a project, select Ask AI Assist — or Continue with AI Assist if it’s already live — to open the chat. Each project has its own conversation, so the agent always works with that app’s context.

Type what you want in plain language and press Enter to send (Shift + Enter for a new line). For example:

  • “Install FFmpeg and restart the app”
  • “Fix the error on the homepage”
  • “Add a WordPress admin user”
  • “Change the site title to Acme”

You can attach files (up to 10 MB each) with the paperclip, or dictate your message with voice input where your browser supports it.

The agent’s reply builds up live. Along the way it shows:

  • its reasoning as it works out what to do,
  • the commands it runs on your server (for example, 12 commands executed),
  • a status for each action — Pending, Running, Completed, or Failed,
  • its written reply once it’s done.

You can Stop generating mid-reply, Retry the last message if something went wrong, or Clear chat to start a fresh conversation.

AI Assist draws on your plan’s monthly allowance of AI assists. Each plan includes a set number each month, and some plans include an unlimited amount.

When you’re running low or have run out:

  • On Maker and Pro, you can buy an AI Assist Pack — a bundle of extra assists that stay on your account until you use them.
  • On Free, upgrade your plan to get more assists and to unlock packs.
